Cedarland Public School kindergarten addition
Client: Grand Erie District School Board
The kindergarten addition for Cedarland Public School creates a new, distinct and separate entrance for both the existing and new kindergartens in the 1960s open concept school. The addition contrasts and complements the original school with a welcoming green facade at the upper level. The façade’s lower level is dark grey vandal-proof masonry that provides a surface for students to play ball against.
A bright white, sun-filled interior with yellow accents acts as a backdrop to the range of colourful furniture, teaching aids and toys found in kindergarten spaces. This allows the students to focus on the teaching elements. The modulated ceiling assists with noise control and creates a variety of open and intimate spaces for both individual and group learning.
