Mount Pleasant Public School addition
Client: GRAND ERIE DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
The Mount Pleasant Public School addition contrasts the original red brick school with a rear façade covered in blue mosaic tile, full-height capless glazing and glazed doors to directly access to the school yard. The brick side walls are punctuated with square windows trimmed in canary-yellow. The white interior is softened with glulam beams exposed below the exposed metal roof deck and blue tackboards line the walls.
The required storage units, sinks and drinking fountains are set in sculptural configurations using glazed block and plastic laminate in contrasting and complimentary colours. The two classrooms connect together through sliding doors finished in chalkboard paint and to the main school through the shared boot storage area.
