Discovering Places
Client: Commission for Architecture & the Built Environment (CABE)

Helena lead the development of Discovering Places (originally called O.space), a UK-wide campaign that was one of ten major projects in the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. The joint project between the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, Natural England and English Heritage, gave participants across the country the opportunity to discover, explore and be inspired by the UK’s hidden gems – historic and contemporary buildings, public spaces and natural places.

In the pilot years (2008-09), programs in Liverpool, Hull and London included: a workshop with students and decision-makers on Everton Football Stadium’s relocation; Discover the Greenway, an event which had art programming, canal boat tours, and birding walks within view of the Olympic stadium under construction; and workshops with local youth and older adults on legacy masterplanning for the Olympic site and other major regeneration projects in England.
